Warning: This film climbs to the edge of extremes and is not for those who can’t stomach disturbing visual graphics. For me, this film was a must see especially since I come from Colorado and have hiked, rafted and mountain biked the regions where this film took place in Utah and because I know guys like Aron Ralston.
Perhaps you remember the story from 2003 where a young man had to cut off his own arm which was caught under a falling boulder. Based on the book Between A Rock and a Hard Place by Aron Ralston, Danny Boyle (director of Slum Dog Millionaire) uses his magic to make this an award-winning film that we will definitely see at the Oscars. Aron Ralston (James Franco) is an experienced mountain climber from Englewood, Colorado. He has worked with rescue teams and is an engineer; so how could this possibly have happened that he ended up in Blue John Canyon Utah and nobody knew where he was? This film dives into that journey about making some bad decisions and how to survive if there is only one choice left to make. This is an absolutely brilliant film where we dive into the psyche of Aron Ralston and relive these five days of his agonizing fight for survival.
