High LifeA group of prisoners who have been sentenced to a life time in prison get a second chance. They happily sign a document where they think the future has to be brighter than sitting and rotting in prison on earth. Before they know it, they fly into outer space as this science fiction space odyssey unfolds into a DNA drama. The prisoners are all tested by medical doctor/nurse Dibs (Juliette Binoche) who is trying to build up a colony in this space pod. Unfortunately the ship is heading towards a black hole and the ship seems to be falling apart while members of the crew start losing their senses. The environment is sparse but cramped which has the feeling of some cheap amusement park playhouse. The only room that seems interesting is the green house but even that seems to have its limitations. The film feels more like a play and although it is supposed to exert some erotic feeling from the participants, the story somehow makes no sense.  Each actor did give a good performance but somehow the story just couldn’t pull it together. Tip of the week is forget watching this film in the theater but buy the sound track since the music is definitely more interesting than the film. (Shelly S.)
