Baby Mama is a light, romantic comedy about Kate (Tina Fey), who desperately wants a baby, and gum-chewing Angie (Amy Poehler), the "white trashy" (Kate's words, not mine!!) surrogate mother. Kate is 37, has a successful career as vice president of a chain of organic food markets, but she is less successful at relationships. Her doctor then actually declares her unable to have a baby. She hires Angie to conceive and carry a baby for her, but when dizzy Angie's life takes a turn, she moves in with serious Kate and two very different women clash in every respect.
The actors are all terrific and very, very funny. It is worth seeing the film just for Steve Martin who appears as Kate's New-Agey, pony-tailed boss. Greg Kinnear plays Kate's new boyfriend. He is a guy who went from being a lawyer to becoming the owner of a juice bar. And the smaller roles are played by wonderful actors as well: Oscar, the doorman, the director of the surrogate mother agency (Sigourney Weaver) and the birthing class teacher. The movie is silly, but always entertaining.
