Liv (Kate Hudson) and Emma (Anne Hathaway) are taken to tea at the Plaza Hotel in Manhattan when they are young girls. On that day there is a wedding party which is so lovely that the girls decide that their dream is to be married one day there as well. The young women stay best friends, turn into a fiery lawyer and a headstrong teacher and, lo and behold, they are engaged to be married at the same exact time. But what happens? The Plaza Hotel has only one date in June and the two go to war with each other to see who can outsmart the other and get that June spot. Bride War is sort of trivial but it is fun to see all the places they run around to in Manhattan (Central Park, Bloomie's, etc.) and it was good to see Candice Bergen as the wedding planner. In its own little way, the film is a declaration to the importance of women's friendship.
