This is a remarkable true story of triumph and determination despite all odds. It is the true story of the adversity Baltimore Ravens offensive tackle Michael Oher faced growing up, becoming homeless and how his life changed when this African-American boy endeared himself to two families whose love and support shaped what would be his bright future.
A friend’s dad saw his talent for sports and arranged for him to go to a private school (Briarcrest Christian School) to get him out of the rough side of Memphis. A little over a year passes and Michael stays overnight at his teammates’ homes or in the school gym with nothing more than a few changes of clothes to his name. The Tuohys family had two children attending Briarcrest and one cold night they invited Michael to stay in their home; this soon became a permanent arrangement.
This is a story of color blindness, being self less, helping out someone in need, and turning a life around with love and nurturing. Add to all that the power of love and how one gentle giant could affect so many other people with his kind heart, hard work, and determination. Directed by John Lee Hancock with Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, Quinton Aaron, Kathy Bates, etc.)
