Anything can happen especially if you have wildly colorful costumes, music and dancing. This film reminds me of my youth when we were watching The Yellow Submarine and Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band movies. Although the music in this movie takes us back to the 1980s, it is suitable for anyone in their teens who wants to be in love, interested in losing their virginity but can’t figure out how, or trying to make their dreams come true even if they are a bit misdirected. This coming-of-age film really goes to the limits with love triangles, and confusion about who wants who and who will end up with whom. It’s as crazy as teenage hormones will possibly ever get. The movie is basically one big fantasy where princesses are allowed to fart in their lover’s faces and a boy can wear a yellow chicken outfit to his mother’s funeral since that was her favorite color. The basic concept is “Over the top” which definitely is achieved. I can imagine sections of this film ended up on YouTube since the music was great and Emma Sehested Hoeg who plays Lina, a girl trying to get a record contract, actually has a great voice. She said at the beginning she was supposed to sing only one song but by the end she sang so many she couldn’t count them all. This is my pick for the film that could help the teenagers with sex education. It seems like it covers a lot of ground. (SRS)
