Adam Sandler (Anger Management, Reign Over Me), Katie Holmes (Batman Begins, Ice Storm) and Al Pacino (Merchant of Venice, Ocean's 13) star in a comedy directed by Dennis Dugan (You Don't Mess With The Zohan), with screen play by Sandler and Steve Koren.
Jack Sadelstein (Sandler) has a successful career in advertising and lives in Los Angeles with his wife Erin (Holmes) and their two kids. The only cloud of Jack's horizon is the yearly Thanksgiving visit of his twin sister, Jill (Sandler). Though once close, Jill's outspoken and rambunctious character is now more of an embarrassment to Jack than anything else. Initially intended to be just a couple of days, Jill's visit this year gets extended, which puts additional pressure on Jack. The timing couldn't be worse because he's also having stress at work: Dunkin' Donuts, his biggest client, insist on having Al Pacino star in their Dunkaccino ad – something the Academy Award winning actor is not likely to agree to. Unexpectedly, a chance to approach the actor opens up at a basketball game, but it is Jill who captures Pacino's interest. Suddenly Jack sees the potential his sister might represent in securing Pacino for the job...
Jack & Jill has some funny moments and a couple of good laughs, though the storyline holds no particular surprises. Sandler does a competent job in the dual role (seems like a must at some point during the career of most comedians) and the presence of Al Pacino playing himself... in a crisis... is an entertaining touch.
