Filmfest Hamburg
This is the 20th anniversary of the Hamburg film festival and you don’t want to miss it, a unique opportunity to see over 140 international films, most of them either in English or with English subtitles. All have never been shown in Germany; many are celebrating a world premiere; many won prizes in other festivals. The Filmfest Hamburg runs September 27 – October 6. The schedule is available from September 12. Go to www.filmfesthamburg.de, click the British flag symbol for all information in English. New categories this year will be “Dance” and “Asia Express.” Watch for feature films, documentaries, and, parallel, the children’s film festival which will start one day later and will be celebrating its 10th anniversary. Hamburg cinemas hosting the event are Abaton, Cinemaxx Dammtor, Metropolis, Passage, 3001, B-Movie, and Studio Kino, where you can pick up the complete schedule in print (mostly in German, sorry to say) starting mid September. Last year nine members of the club’s film group were accredited and published a 36-page extra edition of Currents Magazine. We look forward to the same incredible experience again this year.
