This musical comedy is about a cappella girl band trying to win the university finals. Beca (Anna Kendrick) is starting her first year of college. Here, she reluctantly joins an a cappella band on a losing streak. But in the new semester, everything is supposed to change with her and an eclectic mix of new members.
I went to see this movie expecting something like the TV show Glee, which is witty, critical and very well made on all levels. The only thing that really impressed me was the actors’ super bleached white teeth, I am sorry to say. Other than that, I would like to quote Beca’s self fulfilling prophecy: She sleeps through the end of movies, because they are boring and predictable. If it were not for the constant and sleazy allusions to sex, this movie could have been suitable for a younger audience.
Directed by Jason Moore, written by Kay Cannon and Jeff Roda, based on the novel by Mickey Rapkin
