Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Delicatessen, Die Fabelhafte Welt der Amelie) has created a visual delight of Reif Larson's book "The Selected Works of T.S. Spivet". The main character T.S. Spivet (Catlett) lives on a remote farm in Montana with his twin brother, older sister, scientific mother (Bonham Carter) and cowboy father. T.S. is an extraordinarily gifted 10-year-old boy who sees the world in measurements, science and dreams. After sending a new type of invention to the Smithsonian Institute, he is invited to come to Washington D.C. to accept the prestigious Spencer Baird award for scientific excellence. Deciding to leave behind his family and rural life, he departs on an adventure across the USA hiding away on a freight train. Along the way he meets several memorable characters and keeps himself company with his dreams. Jeunet portrays the countryside the train moves along in postcard-like images and vivid color. The insertion of pop-up books to introduce the new chapters of T.S.'s adventures and the innocence and vulnerability of his character remind the viewer that, despite his amazing intellect, T.S. is still only a 10 year old boy. This is a wonderful movie which the whole family can enjoy watching. DVD start: November 26, 2014, Video on Demand start: November 28, 2014 ( )
