Quiz question: how many legs does a Boov have? Five or six? Ask your three-year-old, who will love this delightful children’s film as much as the rest of the family. Boovs are small creatures who arrive from outer space to move all humans into one town in Australia and then take over the rest of the world, with special love for Manhattan, Moscow and Paris. They throw out all human necessities like toilettes, garbage cans, picnic tables, and mugs. They show emtions by turning red, blue, yellow – and green when they are lying. Seen from above in a huge group (and there are thousands of them) they look like so many Smarties in a bowl, each with a round phone in his hand. One Boov is Oh, who earned his name because no matter what he does, the others just look at him and frown and say, „Oh.“ Nobody comes to his party, so it is natural, that he hooks up with the one remaining human in the area, a girl named Tip, who is looking for her mother from whom she was separated. After some misunderstandings Tip and Oh and Tip‘s cat, take off in a marvelous little red car to find mom. Naturally, there is a moral to the story about the true meaning of home and friendship, as well as the misuse of power by the two-faced Captain Smek. Rihanna and Jennifer Lopez both get to present songs. It is based on the book by Adam Rex The True Meaning of Smekday and you really can with watch it with your three-year-old – maybe not for 94 minutes in the cinema, but perhaps via DVD later when you can watch it ten minutes at a time on your own sofa for some wonderful fun.
