Wade Wilson (Reynolds) is a mercenary soldier used to dangerous combat. He hangs out in his favorite bar with his girlfriend Vanessa (Baccarin). His strong masculine, no-holds-barred lifestyle threatens to change when he learns that he is suffering from cancer. With little hope in sight, he willingly checks into a shady clinic. He is released with the ability to heal himself of diseases or injuries. That’s the good news. The bad news is that his whole body is covered with scars and his face no longer recognizable as the good-looking Wade. Desperate to cover his ugliness he puts together a costume including a mask, which looks very much like Spider Man. Will Vanessa still have him? Naturally with these new abilities, he is X-Man material; some X-Men even try to enlist him, but he must find and punish Francis Dopinder (Soni), the “surgeon” responsible for his new situation.
Deadpool is a Marvel Comic character created in 1991. He differs from other Marvel characters in that he has no discipline, carries on with unprintable commentary to the audience and retains a certain sense of humor. He is a bad guy who “gets paid for fucking up bad-er guys – a tooth fairy in reverse: leave the tooth and take the money.” In 2013 there was a TV series as well as a computer game about this alternative super hero. Here, the story jumps back and forth in flashbacks, which might be hard to follow, although following the story is not a priority. The 108 minutes of fights, explosions, dismemberment, fire, and deep plummets and should be quite enough to keep your attention. There is a good sound track with 31 songs and a sequel would be no surprise. ()
