If you are into action-packed movies, Jason Bourne is a must. This fifth Jason Bourne film follows the same pattern as its predecessors, where a likeable or interesting female character dies early in the film. There are the usual speed chases using a variety of vehicles and there is always sinister technology looming in the background, which causes the characters to interact in a mistrusting way. The film has a decent storyline, i.e., Jason Bourne (Damon) fights the US government to find out who he was before he came into the Treadstone program.
I really enjoyed the action scenes, especially the car chase which occurs towards the end of the movie. One of my major criticisms is that it is a little too predictable. In my opinion, they did a better job in the first two movies. As always, the mean female actor dies, which here, I think, is unnecessary. I would have enjoyed having more information about Bourne’s past. He learns that his father was involved with Treadstone. Perhaps they should have shown Jason Bourne’s childhood in order for us to understand the character more deeply. What I personally really liked was that the movie criticized our society’s use of technology. They did a good job with creating a company which collects data on the kind of preferences you have in life. This will help people become more aware of the illegal uses of technology, something unknown to most people. This movie won’t disappoint, especially if you enjoyed the prior Bourne movies. ( )
