Everyday Rachel commutes on the train to the city and watches the lives of the people outside pass before her when she looks out the window fantasizing about how perfect their lives might be. Being a failure herself, an alcoholic divorced wreck with only little to show for herself, she finds herself tangled in those lives she only watched from afar. When her favorite subject of observation, the seemingly perfect blond Megan with her perfect life, disappears the same day, Rachel has a fit; outraged by something she sees from the train, she begins to doubt her own senses.
Due to her drinking problem She tends to black out and cannot recall what happened the night Megan vanished. Is she involved in the missing? Was she there? Why did she wake up wet and her hair trenched in blood the morning after Megan went missing? Why does she remember her ex-husbands new wife Anna to be at the crime scene?
The audience is sucked into the lives of three so very different women when it turns out they might have so much more in common than any of them could ever imagine. The camera work is brilliant and the atmosphere of this movie is so trenched with cold bitterness it sorrows you so much to watch Rachel’s pitiful divorced life. ()
