Here’s a new twist in the latest Fast and Furious film which is truly a spin-off of the films preceding it. While the last eight films concentrated on fast cars, hot but tough chicks and rebel gangs, this film takes a side road and a closer look at two characters Hobbs (Jason Statham) and Shaw (Dwayne Johnson). These two have been in at least two previous Fast and Furious films together and look like they are still having a blast working together in this one.
Trying to retrieve a virus “Snowflake,” the M16 agents are attacked by Brixton Lore (Idris Elba), who has cybernetic implants that allow him to be stronger than any natural human. Hattie Shaw (Vanessa Kirby) just barely escapes with the virus while the rest of her team is completely annulated by Brixton’s team. Before she knows it, Hattie is framed for killing her team and since everyone wants to get their hands on the virus, it makes her the most-wanted person in England. When her brother Deckard Shaw gets wind of this, he is ready to act but is forced to team up with Luke Hobbs. The situation calls for both to set their differences aside and focus on how to take out their enemy.
With the many great action scenes this movie offers, it is a sure win to give you a thrill. The humor in this movie is on point. The film gives an in-depth view of these characters’ history and creates a nice rivalry between Deckard Shaw and Luke Hobbs as well. I personally love the technology they used in this movie as well as showing that “old weapons vs new weapons” still has its place. This is the best Fast and Furious film yet so go to your nearest theater and check it out. ( )
