The start of the movie is explosive, brutal, and full of action. This is what someone would expect of a James Gunn movie not given any limitations by DC. At the start, the new Suicide Squad is introduced; however, you should not be too attached to anyone. Fan favorite Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) returns to the action in this movie. Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) is in charge of Task Force X. In this task force, villains and criminals can reduce their prison sentence if they join her team. Despite the fact that she has the highest death rate in the department, most of these criminals have nothing to lose. They are sent off on a mission to destroy a secret project on the island called Corto Maltese. During their mission they need to work together to overcome their much stronger opponent.
I really enjoyed this movie much more than the first, Suicide Squad (2016). I am happy with DC’s decision to let James Gunn run free on this movie. It is filled with humor and action scenes that are a blast for the audience. One of my favorite things is how crazy and chaotic the scenes get. The movie has the great capability of refocusing the attention of the viewer on the action. Moreover, the new cast was funnier and gave the movie a new sense of feeling. You can feel the passion James had while making the film. The powers of the team are awesome. The movie is done very creatively and will definitely not disappoint in surprises. Without giving too much away, this is one of my favorite DC movies of all time. For all the comic fans, it will definitely be a hit. The typical underdog theme is implemented within this movie including a much stronger opponent. All in all, The Suicide Squad was amazing to see and has gone miles above the first movie. (
