Details:
Discover Hamburg by Bike !Thursday, September 24th at 10:30 a.m.(Rain date October 1st)
Join us for our first trip (there will be more!): Hamburg’s bustling port on the south side of the Elbe RiverHamburg’s seaport is Europe’s third largest, covering over 70 km2— with 300 berths, 120 bridges, 140 km of streets, millions of containers, and Europe’s largest port railroad (with 200 freight trains per day.) Sounds busy? It is, but it has lots to see: old port buildings and water locks, refineries, modern container terminals, great city views, urban parks, and small villages. Our bike tour: Bring your own bike for this ca 25 km cycle tour on well-marked and flat bike trails with mostly paved surfaces and suitable for all skill levels (recommended by the Hamburg Port Authority). Note: some busy streets! We will start by crossing underneath the Elbe via the newly renovated historic St. Pauli Elbtunnel (ca. 425 meters) to Steinwerder and end at the Finkenwerder Pier for a ferry back to Landungsbrücken. (ca 25 km of cycling) . Here's an overview of the route:
Cost: Only the price of the ferry ride back to Landungsbrücken via HVV Ferry Line #62 (€3.40) (ca 25 min ride) Return? The actual bike tour takes about 2.5 hours, but may be longer, depending on photo stops, etc. IMPORTANT: Masks are required for the Elbtunnel and ferry! Cyclists: Limited to 6—so sign up now! Organizers: Carola A. and Carol H. |
