Details: Opera Club Presents...A Closer Look at Vivaldi's Four Seasons (Part 2)
Antonio Vivaldi’s beloved masterpiece “The Four Seasons” gives us listeners an inexhaustible source of inspiration, brilliance, and color that is particularly valuable during these trying times. We all know the key melodies of this famous work, but many more images and stories underneath the pretty tunes are just waiting to be revealed. In these two talks, we will closely contemplate the concertos comprising “The Four Seasons” and discover their marvelous details. An overview of Vivaldi’s life and works in early 18th century Venice shall certainly not be neglected. At our first session on Monday, May 3, we will focus on Spring and Summer; on Monday, May 17 we will move on to Autumn and Winter. These talks will unfortunately not lend themselves to much discussion due to the Zoom format, but participants will have many opportunities to actively consider questions and try to puzzle out aspects of the piece. Time will be reserved for Q&A at the conclusion of the sessions. Once you have signed up, you will be sent a handout to print out and the Zoom link. |
