Join us for a fun afternoon of browsing through English books and sharing reading suggestions. Good quality, English-language books and DVDs will be available for purchase. All proceeds and donations will go to the Nandanvan Trust in Marharastra, India that AWCH has been supporting since 2011. Food and drinks will be provided.

The primary aim of the Nandanvan Trust is to restore the environmental infrastructure of the rural areas of Maharashtra, India—the home of many tribal communities—to increase agricultural productivity and to restore natural resources, both indispensable for escaping poverty. Nandanvan uses watershed projects toward this aim and couples this with promoting education, health and sanitation. Four FAWCO grants have been awarded to Nandanvan to plant cashew trees and to build an open well, a kindergarten, and now, in 2021, a grain/seed storage building. Donations from this book sale will provide the missing funds needed to complete the storage building that will make it possible to save the harvest—giving the local tribals the chance for a better life.

Take this opportunity to stock up on new books and to visit with other AWCH members. The event takes place in a member’s home in Winterhude. Come when you can, go when you want.

This event will follow 2G regulations: Participants need to present proof of vaccination or recovery and verify contact details at the door. Persons with COVID-19-typical disease symptoms or with direct contact with a person suffering from COVID-19 are asked to stay home.
