The American Women's Club of Hamburg
cordially invites you, your family and friends to
a 4th of July celebration
on Sunday, July 3, 2022
at the Emigration Museum BallinStadt—"the port of dreams".
Join us for a barbecue with "Ballinburgers" (beef, turkey, or vegetarian),
served with potato wedges and a vegetable stir-fry.
We will top off the meal with homemade American desserts, brought by our members.
Weather permitting, we will celebrate outdoors in the courtyard of the "Nach Amerika" restaurant.
Whether indoor or out, there will be games and activities for children (and adults).
In addition to Independence Day, we will be celebrating the end of our Spring Challenge, thus we have chosen a Hawaiian theme! Our challenge has brought us across the USA, from sea to shining sea, visiting many national monuments and parks along the way. The final destination is Hawaii and our 50th state. Feel free to wear any Hawaiian-inspired attire.
The price of €15 for members and their partners and children (16 and older) and €8 for children (ages 4 to 15) includes a coupon for the "Barbecue Buffet" and a small bottled drink (soft drink, apple or rhubarb spritz, or mineral water.) We ask also that each family brings a dessert with 8 servings to share. Non-member guests are welcome but must pay the full price of €19.50 per person.
An optional visit to the award-winning exhibitions in the museum's historical halls after lunch is possible. A reduced entrance fee of €8.50 for adults (12 and over) or €6.00 for children (5 to 11 years) for the regular exhibition is available. This does not include the special exhibition „Lisas und Mads phantastische Reise durch Raum und Zeit“, which is sponsored by LEGO. A combination ticket is available for an additional €3.00 per person. Please note that this should be paid at the museum directly, not to AWCH.
Join us for the festivities with good food, drink, and fun in a historic setting, where many European emigrants gathered before setting sail for America.

CANCELLATION POLICY: You have until Friday, June 24, to cancel your attendance without being charged. After this date, or in the event of a no-show, you will still be required to pay the full amount unless a substitute is found.
Transportation:
Public transportation: “Veddel – BallinStadt” S-Bahn station is 150 meters from the museum and only a 6-min ride on the S3 or S31 train from the main station.
Driving instructions: On the BAB 252 (Wilhelmsburger Reichsstraße), take the exit "Georgswerder” and follow the signs. Free parking is available. (For your navigation system: Veddeler Bogen/Kreuzung Packersweide
The Maritime Circle Ferry is currently NOT stopping at Ballinstadt but this may change before the event. If you are interested in this fun way to get there, please contact Carol H.
