After becoming head curator for posters and graphic art at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe of
MKG (Museum of Art and Design) in 2020, Julia Meer was dismayed to discover that only a scant
1.5% of the artists represented in the collection she oversaw were by women. Among her first
acquisitions for the museum was the entire oeuvre of the Guerilla Girls, the anonymous activist
group which has been fighting sexism and racism in the art world through posters, billboards, books
and public appearances since 1985. Meer is currently showing these works in her first exhibition at
the museum, along with other examples of feminist graphic design and outstanding works by women
from the collection. She has graciously agreed to give AWCH a personal tour of the show in English.
