FrauenFreiluftGalerie / Women's Open Air Gallery

Join Get Up & Move for Women’s History Month on a guided tour through Hamburg’s Fischmarkt to explore the murals of the FrauenFreiluftGalerie. This open-air gallery began as a long-term project in 1994, featuring 15 murals on architecturally and historically significant buildings and walls. As the tour will reveal, some murals have been lost to demolition or vandalism, but many remain intact, each telling a unique story about Frauenarbeit (women’s work) in Hamburg’s port, including the evolving role of women in this traditionally male-dominated space.

We invite you to join us for an afternoon of art, history, exercise, and perhaps a little coffee and cake to wrap up the tour.

Please wear comfortable walking shoes and dress for the weather. The walking route is circa 2 km.

Details

When: Sunday, March 30 from 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. 

Meeting Point: Landungsbrücken, Brücken (Pier) 3 at the ferry stop on the water. Together we will take ferry 62 one stop and continue from there on foot.  

End Point: Övelgönne, where coffee and cake can be purchased. One can return to Landungsbrücken with ferry 62 at the end of the tour.
