Film Event to Celebrate Equality Day

A century after the passage of the 19th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, it’s worth remembering why suffragists had to fight so hard, and who was fighting against them - and remind ourselves that the work is not yet finished.

Join us to celebrate Equality Day, August 26th, at 19:00 for a private streaming of the historical drama film Iron Jawed Angels directed by Katja von Garnier. This film tells the remarkable and little-known story of a group of passionate and dynamic young women, led by Alice Paul (Hilary Swank) and her friend Lucy Burns (Frances O'Connor), who put their lives on the line to fight for American women's right to vote.

An open discussion will follow the two-hour film.

Join us for an entertaining and insightful film of the final events leading to women’s suffrage in the USA — and an open discussion of hurdles still facing women today.
