Help Choose FAWCO's Target Project 2023-2025!

Every three years FAWCO member clubs choose a new target project to support together and thus increase the impact.  Three projects within the category Environment have been shortlisted for the 2023-2025 Target Project.

Please review the information provided below and then cast your vote using the VOTE link at the bottom.  FAWCO is offering a Zoom call on Feb.1 at 12:00 p.m. to learn more about the different projects.  Register here.

Deadline to cast your vote: Monday, February 13, at 12:00 noon CET.
Our FAWCO Rep will tally the ballots and the project receiving the most votes will get AWCH's vote.  The Target Project will be announced at FAWCO's Biennial Conference in March.

Awesome Blossoms

Project 1: Awesome Blossoms
Organization: Safe Spaces
Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Edible Fresh Fields for Sustainable Life in the Slums.
Awesome Blossoms is the latest evolution of a community-based organization, Safe Spaces, created by Mrs. Peninah Nthenya Musyimi. This project features an organic, water-efficient urban farm project for 75 women in partnership with three primary schools located in the Mathare slum area of Nairobi.
For more information, see here.

Love for the Sea

Project 2: Love for the Sea
Organization: Caribbean Coral Restoration Center (CCRC)
Location: Solarte Island, Bocas del Toro Archipelago, Panama

Empowering Indigenous Women Through Coral Restoration.
CCRC created its Love for the Sea project to restore the fragile coral ecosystem in the region by building an indoor seed bank and coral breeding laboratory and to foster economic empowerment by employing the local indigenous Ngäbe people in its activities. A key feature of the project: constructing a new, indoor seed bank lab to replace the outdoor breeding facility (vulnerable to damage during inclement weather), thereby dramatically increasing the capacity to raise coral seedlings for transplant. The organization depends upon a savvy mix of locally based staff and volunteers.
For more information see here.

Wing Woman Lebanon

Project 3: Wing Womann Lebanon (WWL)
Organization: Stand for Women (SfW)
Location: Lebanon

Stand for Women (SfW), through their project Wing Woman Lebanon (WWL), seeks to reduce waste in Lebanese landfills and address (menstrual) period poverty by producing and distributing affordable and reusable feminine hygiene pads as well as reusable diapers to vulnerable families. A large part of their distribution will take place during community training sessions.
